Dr. Alexander G. Carden, M.D.
Dr. Carden’s practice includes provision of Primary and Preventive healthcare, Internal Medicine care, Infectious Disease consultative care, and Travelers Medical Services for individuals traveling overseas and returning home with travel-related medical issues. A graduate of Yale College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, an infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Chicago, and served for 2 years in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. He subsequently served as the Medical Director of the Tropical Medicine and Traveler’s Clinic at the University of Miami Hospital and as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Miami School of Medicine. In West Palm Beach, he has held positions as Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine, Chief of Staff, as well as serving on the Board at St. Mary’s Hospital and as Chief of the Department of Infectious Disease and Director of Infection Control at Good Samaritan Medical Center. During the summer months, he volunteers as the Internal Medicine Director for Missions of Mercy, bringing primary medical care services to indigent Quechuan Indians in remote areas of rural Ecuador. In addition to providing acute Internal Medicine care, Dr. Carden emphasizes the importance of up-to-date wellness care in his practice-including heart-healthy, plant based dietary guidelines. His Infectious Disease practice includes consultative services for both hospitalized patients as well as outpatients. He is double Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. He is also certified by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Travelers Health.
