Health resources for Palm Beach patients

Trusted, current information from public health agencies and medical organizations, selected by our physicians for patients in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach.

Staying healthy in South Florida

Our physicians are internists and infectious disease specialists, so we pay close attention to the health issues that affect West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Island. Below are quick checklists for the season, followed by trusted links from public health agencies and medical organizations. Each link shows its source and date so you can judge how current it is.

Hurricane season (June 1 to Nov. 30)

Keep a written medication list and an extra supply of medicine; store copies of insurance cards and key records; know where you would go if you need to evacuate; clean and watch any cuts from storm cleanup.

Mosquito season

Drain standing water around your home weekly; cover skin and use EPA-registered repellent; repair window and door screens; report problem areas to Palm Beach County Mosquito Control.

Warm coastal water

Keep open wounds out of warm salt or brackish water; avoid raw oysters and shellfish if you have liver disease or a weakened immune system; seek care quickly for a wound that becomes red or painful.

Before you travel

Schedule a travel visit about two months ahead; check CDC travel notices for your destinations; confirm measles vaccination; register your trip with STEP.
